About Us

Bruyère Continuing Care is one of the largest continuing care, academic health science centres of its kind in Canada. Providing long-term care, complex continuing care, palliative care, and rehabilitation, we also teach health care students in many disciplines under an affiliation agreement with the University of Ottawa and several colleges. Our research initiatives are designed to improve the quality of life of adults affected by loss of autonomy or by chronic or terminal illness. As well, we offer innovative programs to educate and assist people in the community. Bruyère Continuing Care specializes in providing compassionate health care to the most vulnerable in our society: the frail elderly, and persons with chronic and terminal illnesses.

Rehab

Still inspired by the catholic values of the Sisters of Charity who came to Ottawa in 1845, Bruyère Continuing Care today is a dynamic organization serving the needs of people of all faiths and origins in Canada’s official languages.

With 753 specialized hospital and long-term care beds, we admit approximately 1,300 inpatients and residents and serve more than 30,000 outpatient visits each year. To cater to the needs of our clients, we can count on approximately 2,000 employees and 1,000 volunteers. Bruyère Continuing Care provides care in four facilities in the city of Ottawa:

Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital

Palliative Care, Rehabilitation and Ambulatory and Outreach Programs

Saint-Vincent Hospital
