Website Accessibility

Bruyère Continuing Care has incorporated the following W3C standards to help improve accessibility to this website:

Text Size
You will be able to scale the text size of pages using the text icons located on the upper right-hand side of available pages. This will increase or decrease the size of the main text on the current page.

Change Contrast

To change the contrast, choose from one of the options below:

Page Zoom

You can zoom in and out of pages including images, with the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • To zoom in, press CTRL+PLUS SIGN (+)
  • To zoom out, press CTRL+MINUS SIGN (-)
  • To restore the zoom to 100%, press CTRL+0

Tips for Using Screen Readers

We've placed quick access links at the top of all our pages to help screen readers navigate the available content. The first link on the page - "Skip to content" will bring you directly to the page content.

Alternative Text

Images have alternative text attributes, often known as alt text. This means that when an image is used on a web page to convey information, its content is also described in the alt text. This means that the image can be understood by text browsers and assistive technologies such as screen readers. If an image is used for simply decorative purposes, the text attribute for the image is left empty in line with accepted best practice.
